[Agenda](https://lloretdemar.org/es/agenda/) - [Blog](https://blog.lloretdemar.org/?hsLang=es) [Home](https://blog.lloretdemar.org/?hsLang=es) [Blog](https://blog.lloretdemar.org/es) Baile de plaza # Baile de plaza [![](https://blog.lloretdemar.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Ball-de-Pla%C3%A7a.jpg?width=600&height=399&name=Ball-de-Pla%C3%A7a.jpg "Baile de Plaza")](https://blog.lloretdemar.org/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Ball-de-Pla%C3%A7a.jpg?hsLang=es) A parte de la [procesión marítima](http://www.lloretdemar.org/info/redirectorPagina.jsp?telem=1&elem=589&lang=2)de Santa Cristina, uno de los otros actos centrales del día 24 de julio es el [Baile de Plaza o la danza de las “almorratxes”.](http://www.lloretdemar.org/info/redirectorPagina.jsp?elem=590&telem=1) Este baile, de tiempos inmemorables, se basa en una tradición que explica que en épocas en que la costa catalana era atacada a menudo por los musulmanes y barbarecos; llegó a [Lloret](http://www.lloretdemar.org/info/) un árabe, joven y rico que se enamoró perdidamente de una doncella cristiana de nuestro pueblo. El joven utilizó diferentes estrategias para convencer a la chica que se casara con él; pero la chica, a causa de las diferencias religiosas, lo rechazaba. Finalmente un día de baile, el árabe se presentó delante de la multitud vestido con sus mejores galas. Se dirigió a la doncella y le ofreció una jarra de cristal (almorratxa) llena de agua de olor. La chica, indignada por el atrevimiento, tomó la jarra y la rebotó contra el suelo. Dónde se hizo en mil pedazos. Cuentan que el musulmán, avergonzado, regresó a África, y que la chica disertada y triste está en un convento. Actualmente, la [danza de las Almorratxes](http://www.lloretdemar.org/info/redirectorPagina.jsp?elem=590&telem=1) rememora esta leyenda y se baila cada año los días 24 y 26 de Julio. Los protagonistas son cuatro parejas de bailadores. Las mujeres van de largo, vestidas muy elegantes –generalmente de blanco-, y los chicos también salen bien vestidos, con vestidos oscuros. La chicas son cuatro obreras de Santa Cristina, que son elegidas cada año. Durante la primera parte de la danza, de música lenta y ceremoniosa, los componentes de cada pareja bailan cogidos de la mano derecha. Posteriormente, las cuatro chicas, recordando el episodio del árabe y la cristiana, cogen la almorratxa y la tiran al suelo. La leyenda dice que si la almorratxa se rompe, la chica se casará durante el año siguiente.
